Question about tennis tournaments?
I have played tennis for about 1 year. I have a good topspin forehand with not that much power, a good 2handed power backhand with not that much topspin, good volleys and overheads, and a weak serve. My flat serve only goes about 50-75 mph, and my slice serve is inconsistent. my topspin serve is pretty slow too. (I usually use the flat serve for 1st and second serves because i can always get it in). My 1handed slice backhand is inconsistent, but it's pretty good when it gets in. So, I would like feedback on when I could start playing novice tournaments (I am 14 and won't be 15 for a while). How about challengers (I know i can't play them now, just how many months/years do you think it will take)?
Novice tournaments, as in level 1 out of 3
BTW, I play against my friends and I am pretty good strategy-wise. I work on strategy a lot with my coach.
I am talking about USTA novice tournaments, for 14 year old boys.
I would say you could join a novice tournament. I have done some novice tournaments and the people in them suck so I think you should enter one and then if it too easy then you should move challenger.
