How I can return a backspin serve in Table Tennis?
How I can return a backspin serve in table tennis? If the opponent has an extreme backspin serve what is the easiest / best way to return it? Should I try to put my own backspin on it (open the racket face and knock down) or should I try to counter it with topspin? Thanks
It depends on your own ability to ping pong. I usually just open the face of my palette, and not try apply a twist to it. Every time I try to apply Top Spin, usually there is enough friction between the ball and paddle that shoots directly into the network (which is the idea when someone sends you the ball with backspin). I have had success when trying to apply my own backspin, but usually when I have enough success to recover on the network. Whenever I can do that, usually enough to keep it low and slow enough that the ball may bounce twice on your side of the net, which forces you to play up and usually can not be applied in both the rotation of return. This allows me to be the start to put spin on the ball and I get better control of game. Hope this helps. If you really want to spoil their opening world by applying hand turn and look the thing up from the table.
