Illegal immigration is quite a hot topic these days ... but some most passionate people protesting the unwanted influx of foreigners is in fact the great state of South Carolina, more specifically .. the city of Charleston. Them are not protesting against foreigners in another country, but in reality the residents of Ohio. What? (The title was taken directly from the article was too .... good.)
So I'll admit I'm late to the game in this, so stop me if you've heard this already. Well, actually, I'll keep writing and you've heard or not, but if it is old news to you, I apologize! This "Back to Ohio" campaign has been going on since 2006, when two separate groups of South Carolina had FAR noticed many cars with Ohio license plates driving. A group of scientists did: in fact the number of plaques counted in Ohio against Pennsylvania (both equidistant North Charleston, Mason-Dixon) for a period of one month and found that there was "more plates of Ohio." Rusty Shackleford (this is a name false because apparently some people in Ohio are very upset with him ... really?) is the apparent figurehead of this group and started the website www.gobacktoohio.com (Do not try to go to the website no longer exists ... that promise he will be back soon.) Word is that the site contained instructions to Ohio, the theories of why so many people gravitate toward Ohio and South Carolina, Charleston, and a coffee shop press. Amazing.
Around the same time a certain sticker started fly off the shelves. He said: "Leave your daughters and return to Ohio!" bumper stickers carried Koozies. The idea behind these is TRADD Bastian .. This is apparently not an alias. Bastian describes the people who love Ohio: "They have their hair with gel, wear shorts, shirts lined vertical, and if you're lucky, high socks black and white tennis shoes. "Ah, I laugh because it's so true. You can be laughing, because I managed to find it on Facebook. If I'm not mistaken he is wearing a bright color display that says "Do not Hate."
The number of h8ers Ohio seems to have grown enormously with the sites web, goods and even a song! I post here, but I was not all that impressed. At least when Ohioans do parody songs about our REAL contempt for the error in the lake (Michigan) that are catchy and good. The Dead Schembechlers rule!
It's all for fun and fun honestly. I am a Buckeye fan HUGE. Say "OH" and I instinctively shout "IO!" I can see how this could be annoying in any other place than Columbus, OH. We fly flags OSU, get too passionate about football and nuts to act at all times. (You like that?) Therefore, TRADD and Rusty, I understand. I also understand the desire to maintain having you around you something secret that is yours and nobody else. I felt so many times in certain bands that deceive me believing that "discovered."
I do not yet understand the Ohio seem to be bothered by it. The original article referred interviewed an Ohioan who lived in Charleston and wrote for some newspapers as an art critic. He complains about the town of Charleston and how happy she was to leave. Is it me or is that just seems bitter about the whole thing? Such Once the bitterness that is just picked to live in Cleveland (Named the most miserable city in the United States). In any case, I take that as a compliment despite not really want to live in Ohio (it is expensive, the weather is terrible!) People love to be in Ohio Ohio while insisting to tell everyone about it. OH!
